Waters Green Chippy Macclesfield Damaged By Fire

The Waters Green Fish bar, more commonly referred to as Waters Green chippy or Tels chippy has suffered a serious fire. As yet the full details are unconfirmed but it is a sad day as yet another Macclesfield business suffers a setback.

Tel is a jovial chap and has run the Waters Green fish and chip shop for as long as I can remember. The shop has always been very popular with Macclesfield residents and is always busy. As details emerge this story will be updated but in the meantime let’s hope the Waters Green chippy will rise from the ashes. If you can provide more details please send them via the contact form thanks.

Famous People From Macclesfield- Mr Methane

If you have lived in Macclesfield for several years you may well already be aware of the performing flatulist Mr Methane. A 6ft 7inch entertainer originating from Macclesfield. Mr Methane has an unusual talent for a performer, in fact he is currently the only known person in the world that can claim to be a flatulist.

His talent is a little strange and unusual, which if you have ever met mr methane is quite apt. Mr methane, a.k.a Paul Oldfield was born and grew up in Macclesfield, living first on the Hurdsfield estate and later on Buxton Road on the outskirts of town. Paul discovered his windy party piece while trying a few yoga positions with his sister Kathleen.

The talent was soon earning Paul extra cash at school lunchtime and it became obvious there was a star in the making. After leaving school Paul worked on the railway for several years where he was encouraged by a work colleague to perform his act at a few local venues. The reception he received was tremendous and encouraged Paul to pursue a full time career as Mr Methane. He has travelled extensively with his windy act and performed inmany locations around the world, including Spain, Germany, and Australia to name just a few.

Cat And Fiddle Macclesfield To Buxton Is The Most Dangerous Road In Britain

Cat and Fiddle by Don McPheeIt seems that Macclesfield and the Peak District are, unfortunately, the proud owners of Britains most dangerous road. The A537 between Macclesfield and Buxton better known to locals and bikers alike as the cat and fiddle road has been named as the most dangerous by the road safety foundation.

The road is responsible for 43 fatal or serious accidents since 2001. Nearly 75 percent have involved motorcycles. Despite efforts by the Macclesfield council and the Macclesfield traffic police to slow the bikers down, the ultimate responsibility surely lies with the motorcyclists themselves.
